RECAP: Scotties split series with Patriots

The Glasgow Scotties split a two-day series with Allen County-Scottsville in a 15th District showdown.

At home Monday, the Scotties pummeled the Patriots, 11-2, but gave up two late runs Tuesday and lost 2-1. Both teams are now 1-1 in 15th District action.

Glasgow jumped ahead early in the win. The Scotties posted five runs in the bottom of the first inning and didn’t look back.

With two outs, Steven Garrett singled to reach base, then moved to second on an error in the outfield. Evan Templin was hit by a pitch to put runners at first and second. JP Pitcock entered to run for Templin.

Hudson Gumm followed and loaded the bases with a single. Houston Haynes was hit by a pitch, which scored Garrett. Landon Martin next drove in two runs with a double, and Haynes moved to third on the hit.

Bam Nolley drew a walk to load the bases again. Garett Shields followed with a single that drove in Martin and Haynes.

The Scotties added another run in the second inning, two more in the fourth and three in the sixth.

Gumm led Glasgow at the plate with four hits. He also scored three runs. Shields, Martin and Garrett each posted two hits, while Templin and Carter Hodges each added a hit.

Templin started on the mound, allowed seven hits and struck out one. Garrett closed and allowed not hits and struck out one.

Scotties 1, Patriots 2
On Tuesday, Glasgow led 1-0 until the bottom of the seventh inning.

Allen County loaded the bases with one out and the game tied 1-1. The Patriots were able to beat out a potential double play to get the winning run across home plate.

The Scotties took the 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth. Templin led off with a double, then Gumm drew a walk. Haynes was hit by a pitch, which loaded the bases. A sacrifice fly by Martin scored Templin. The rally ended with a pair of fly outs.

Hodges and Shields combined to allow six hits, and Hodges struck out six.

Templin led Glasgow at the plate with two hits, while Hodges, Garrett, Shields, Haynes and Josiah Driver each had a hit.
