Repairs and maintenance will cause the Barren County’s Community Outdoor Warning Sirens — COWS — to activate, according to Glasgow-Barren County Emergency Management Garland Gilliam said.
Gilliam said a third party, Betner Communications, is coming to try and determine the unknown interference that caused the activation failure of the county’s 28 COWS on April 2-3. He added the sirens might activate three or four times, if not more, during the day.
The meeting with Betner personnel is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on April 23, Gilliam said, after which they will begin activating sirens. The siren activation will end by 6 p.m.
The public should not be alarmed during maintenance.
