The Park City Tourism Commission met Feb. 11 briefly to outline the installation timetable for the city’s new signs and to provide updates on potential grant opportunities.

Chairman Joe Bailey said the city had received the new signs, which are ready for installation. Anthony Huff, a contractor for the city, will prepare the installation sites under the guidance of the manufacturer.

He also noted that funding for the upcoming welcome sign is fully covered through combined contributions from the city, county, and the nonprofit Beautify Barren County.

In her report, Director Linda Watts informed the commission of upcoming conventions, including the state Trail Towns meeting in Franklin later this month, where the 2024 “Trail-User of the Year” will be named.

“We haven’t heard anything from the Kentucky Trail Towns Commission due to what’s going on with the federal government,” Watts said, commenting on grant confusion. “I am also looking into an oral history grant, depending on how much the grant is for because grant writing can be so time-intensive.”

The half-hour meeting was then adjourned, with the next session scheduled for March 11.
