The National Weather Service Office in Louisville has issued a winter storm watch for Barren County and much of the southern United States including Tennessee, Arkansas, eastern Texas and north Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia.

Barren County’s winter storm watch will be in effect from Jan. 10 at 3 a.m. to Jan. 11 at 6 a.m. During this watch, the service reports, that “moderate to heavy snowfall” is possible with “snowfall accumulation between 4 to 5 inches.”

“Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous,” the watch states. “Plan on slick road conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the Friday evening commute.”

There is no winter weather warning in the commonwealth. There is an advisory to the east of Barren County.
