Barren County elementary students win awards at KAAC 6th Grade Showcase

Sixth-grade students and teams from local schools in the area competed in the Section 9 – 6th Grade Showcase Academic Competition. The events culminated with competitions on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Barren County Schools’ host site at Hiseville Elementary School.

The overall 6th Grade Showcase runner-up school was North Jackson Elementary School.

In team competitions, the results for quick recall for the Barren County Schools were:
North Jackson Elementary- 2nd
Eastern Elementary – 3rd
Hiseville Elementary – 4th
Temple Hill Elementary – 5th
Park City Elementary – 6th
Austin Tracy Elementary – 7th

The individual results for Barren County students in Section 9 were as follows:

Mathematics
1 – Reece Coomer – North Jackson Elementary School
2 – Tristan Snyder – Temple Hill Elementary School
4 – Kipper Todd – North Jackson Elementary School
5 – Claire Russell – Eastern Elementary School

Science
2 – Kipper Todd – North Jackson Elementary School

Social Studies
3 – Claire Russell – Eastern Elementary School
4 – Alex Collins – North Jackson Elementary School

Language Arts
3 – Brooklynn Turner – Austin Tracy Elementary School
5 – Bronson Phillips – Hiseville Elementary School

Arts and Humanities
1 – Lillian Wilson – Eastern Elementary School
4 – Keedan Blair – Park City Elementary School
5 – Novaley Green – Austin Tracy Elementary

Composition
1 – Lily Key – North Jackson Elementary School
3 – Brooklynn Turner – Austin Tracy Elementary School

Hiseville Elementary School was the host site for the event, with Dinah Wallace, serving as the Contest Manager from Barren County Schools, coordinating the event and working with all schools to facilitate the day. Ellen Blevins served as Chief Official, and John Alexander was the Head Scorekeeper.

A special thanks to all the HES staff for their service before, during, and after the event, for the coaches and parents for working with the children to prepare for the competition, and the countless other volunteers for assisting during the week of the competition.
