A $7.6 million make over for a mile of Columbia Avenue in Glasgow is included in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 road plan.
The city street is under the authority of the state transportation cabinet. It is U.S. 68/Ky. 80 outside the city limits, and named Columbia Avenue within Glasgow, but the state is responsible for all parts of the road. Due to the numerous water and sewer lines beneath the roadway, much of 2025 will be dedicated to addressing utility-related issues. Repaving is expected to begin as early as 2026.
Once repaving begins, work will be done one lane at a time so the road will not be fully closed, though there may be some disruptions to traffic patterns along that section of road. The mile of road runs from near downtown to Glasgow High School.
