The Cave City Police Department arrested 54-year-old Jose Zapata after an officer allegedly saw him “taking videos of minors and posting them to his business Facebook page, His Hands Creations.”
This initially began on Dec. 6 when police chief Paul Reynolds received a complaint of a vendor show being hosted by Zapata at the Cave Area Conference Center with the complainant “worried the event had activities and booths set up directed towards children.” The next day, Dec. 7, according to the release from the department, was when Officer Billy Courtway observed Zapata’s alleged unauthorized videography.
“Through investigation, it was determined that Jose Zapata is a lifetime registered sex offender and his actions were in violation of the requirements for individuals on the registry,” the release states.
According to the offender registry, he is a move-in offender from Indiana whose original “conviction [was] for distribution of material involving sexual exploitation of minors.”
Zapata is lodged in the Barren County Detention Center on charges of sex offender film/photo/video minor without consent. He has a $1,500 cash bond with a court appearance scheduled for Dec. 9 at 12:30 p.m.
