In contrast to the setting sun, and the darkening of the landscape, lights shone brightly as they adorned the various Christmas floats eagerly awaiting the start of the annual procession.
Glasgow has the largest nighttime Christmas Parade — a title Barren Inc. Program Director Erin Hiles said they are eager to hold onto — and 2024 was no exception; one hundred sixty parade floats filled the front and back of both the Glasgow High and Middle schools.

Hiles said they implemented a new rule this year that limited any one business to two entries, which increased the amount of new parade participants- although there were still roughly 25 on the list. She also added that each fire department received a complementary entry. Michael Crimmins/Glasgow News 1
As previously reported, there were eight categories, which included small and large businesses, churches, scout, individual/family, clubs/organizations, school and fire trucks, and also a Grand Marshall award. The clock ticked ever-closer to 6 p.m. as the various judges reviewed each float and tabulated the votes.
