If you commute to Bowling Green for work you might be in for a little extra traffic Dec. 6 as Western Kentucky University has multiple graduation ceremonies scheduled throughout the day beginning at 8 a.m.
District 3 of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet states “there are multiple commencements throughout the day and traffic is expected to be heavy on routes near WKU’s campus” adding to the afternoon traffic of the nearby McNeil Elementary School.
“Motorists may want to avoid areas near WKU’s campus beginning at 7 a.m. into the early afternoon,” the release states. “Message boards have been put in place to warn motorists of the upcoming event traffic.”
According to the university’s website, the university will recognize more than 1,000 students in three ceremonies. The ceremony for Potter College of Arts & Letters and College of Education and Behavioral Sciences will take place at 8 a.m., Ogden and Gordon Ford’s ceremony is at 10:30 and the later, which is for the College of Health and Human Services begins at 1 p.m.
