The Kentucky State Police reminds people about its traffic safety checkpoints during this holiday season.
“Our agency strives daily to ensure the safety of the motoring public,” the KSP release states. “Some of these proactive measures include various traffic safety checkpoints and saturating known problematic areas in the district through general patrol tactics. The intent of a traffic safety checkpoint is to provide for a high visibility, public safety service, focusing on operator impairment, vehicular equipment deficiencies and the valid licensing of drivers.”
The Barren County locations for Post 3 — which serves Allen, Barren, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Simpson and Warren counties — are:
- U.S. 31W at Edmonson Co Line
- U.S. 31W at Hart Co Line
- U.S. 31W and KY 255
- U.S. 31E and Jack Turner Rd
- U.S. 68 and KY 255 (Bon Ayr)
- KY 70 and KY 314
- KY 70 and KY 255
- KY 70 and KY 740 (Hiseville)
- KY 1846 and Old Lexington Rd
- KY 249, ½ mile South of Glasgow limits
- KY 249 at Monroe Co line
On Dec. 2 the Glasgow Police Department released its traffic safety checkpoint locations calling them a “valuable tool” in promoting safety and increasing officer visibility. GPD checkpoints will be, but are not limited to, Columbia Avenue, West Main Street, North Jackson Hwy. and Happy Valley Road.
