Tis the Season, or, more specifically, twas the season for colonial Americans.

On Dec. 3, Barren Countians — young and old alike — have the opportunity to hear about Christmastime in Colonial America from Kentucky author and speaker Eddie Price, who recently came to the Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library and performed “Roscoe Tarleton Goose: Kentucky Derby Winner” on April 30.

“Christmas in Colonial America did not resemble the brightly lit festivities we have today,” the event description reads. “There were no Christmas trees, greeting cards, slick advertisements or piles of expensive gifts. European immigrants brought their religious and ethnic beliefs with them, and attitudes toward Christmas varied accordingly.”

This free in-person event will be from 6 to 7 p.m. and is for adult and family audiences. To register go to the library’s website; as of the time of publication there were only seven seats left available.
