Maxie Garron Shirley, age 75, of Glasgow, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at TJ Samson Community Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Edmonton, Kentucky on May 5, 1949, to the late Ray Shirley and the late Inis Sexton Shirley. Maxie was of the Baptist faith and was a member of East Fork Missionary Baptist Church in Edmonton, Kentucky. Maxie loved antique cars and had built some himself, going to car shows, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Darlene Fields Shirley; daughter, April Smith; two grandchildren which he adored, Emma Jessee and Olivia Jessee; siblings, Leon Shirley, Rondal Shirley (Darlene), Joe Shirley (Dawn), Loretta Dickson (Danny), Betty Tarry (Larry), Kathryn Dickson (Darrell); and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Nolan Shirley, Shelby Shirley, and Lendell Shirley; sisters-in-law, Paulette Shirley, Betty Shirley, Carolyn Shirley, Lisa Adams, and Wendy Poynter; and brother-in-law, Vincent Costello.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Sunday, December 1st, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday, and Sunday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.
