When Annie was young, she was employed by the Dime Store. Seeing there was more that she could do Annie then went to work for the Housing Authority of Bowling Green as an Inspector. As Annie visited the homes of many, she saw there was a need in the community. Her free hearted spirit was shown by giving away clothing from the truck of her car, thus Annie’s Place was founded. Upon much recognition for her hard work and dedication in 1997 Annie received the Jefferson Award. She was always attentive of others even after retiring from her job to care for her husband Hugh “Bug” Link, until his death in 2006. Call anytime of the day or night Annie was there to do whatever she could. Small in stature but a heart and soul of huge proportions. Annie enjoyed cooking, sewing, and taking care of others. Her nieces and nephews called her Aunt Pete. If she had a dime, she would give you a nickel.
To cherish the memory of Annie Louise Link she leaves her daughter, Margaret “Sissy” Link; brother, William (Dorothy) Grainger; in-laws, Josephine “Josie” Grainger, Doris Link and Frank Weatherspoon; several nieces, nephews, good neighbors and special friends Mr. & Mrs. Eugene Vaughn; other relatives and friends. Annie was preceded in death along with her husband and parents, by her siblings, Thelbert Grainger, Jr., Mattie Weatherspoon; uncle, Marvin Young, aunt, Hattie Thomas; nephews, Octavious “Fox” Grainger, and Barry Weatherspoon, niece, Robbie Grainger; and several in-laws.
