Wilma Kay (Stewart) Johnson, born on March 15, 1939, in Richardsville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 29, 2024. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Caryn Crenshaw (Kurt) and Jimmy Johnson (Jennifer), and her cherished grandchildren, Morgan, Michael, and Nathan. Wilma is also survived by her nephew Todd Stewart and dear friends Carl and Susan Dobson, Sue Massey, and Tessa Watts. She is predeceased by her parents, Wilbur and Geneva Stewart, and her brother, Allen Stewart.
Wilma graduated as the valedictorian of her class at Richardsville High School. Following graduation, she embarked on a long and fulfilling career in business, first serving as the office manager at Burks Pontiac for over 15 years. She later joined the OB/Gyn practice of Dr. Dobson, Hatcher, and Beverly, where she continued as their office manager for over 20 years until her retirement.
A devoted member of First Baptist Church, Wilma gave her time generously, serving on numerous committees and teaching Sunday school for more than 30 years. Her faith, warmth, and kindness left an indelible mark on her community and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Chandler Park Assisted Living for their dedicated care over the past six years and to Hospice House of Southern Kentucky for their compassionate support during her final days.
Visitation will be 9:00 – 11:00 AM Friday, October 4, 2024 at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel, 820 Lovers Lane, Bowling Green, KY 42103. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Bowling Green Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Wilma’s memory to First Baptist Church or Hospice House of Southern Kentucky.
Wilma’s gentle spirit and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
