Cave City Mayor Dwayne Hatcher has been honored with the 2024 Kentucky League of Cities (KLC) Mayor Ann C. Deatherage LEAD Award. The award, presented during the KLC Conference & Expo, honors former Carrollton Mayor Ann C. Deatherage, who championed education and believed in the power of continuous improvement for city officials.
“I am incredibly honored and humbled to receive this award,” said Mayor Hatcher. “I was honored to have the opportunity to know Mayor Deatherage, and I’m grateful that I was chosen to receive an award that honors her legacy. I greatly enjoy learning and trying to gain every opportunity I can to improve the City of Cave City.”
Mayor Hatcher was also awarded his Certified Municipal Officer (CMO) designation on Friday, Sept. 27, after completing 57.75 hours of training.
KLC Executive Director/CEO J.D. Chaney praised Mayor Hatcher’s dedication to serving his community. “Mayor Hatcher exemplifies what it means to be a lifelong learner and a dedicated public servant,” said Chaney. “His commitment to continually expanding his knowledge and skills reflects his passion for improving Cave City. He’s truly deserving of the LEAD Award, and we congratulate him on both this honor and his CMO designation.”
The LEAD Award recognizes mayors from smaller cities who are committed to lifelong learning and embody Mayor Deatherage’s belief in the importance of continuing education to better serve their communities.
The Kentucky League of Cities is a membership association serving more than 380 cities in the commonwealth. KLC provides various services, including legislative advocacy, legal services, and training to help strengthen and support cities.
