Anna Dare Poland

Anna Dare Poland, age 82, of Tompkinsville, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024, at Monroe County Medical Center. Anna was born on April 22, 1942, to the late Lawrence and Opal (Goad) Cornwell. She was a member of Sand Lick Missionary Baptist Church. She was the owner of Anna Dare’s Beauty Salon and retired from Walmart.

She is survived by her daughters Bettina White (Joe) and Leslie King (Jamie): grandchildren Paige Nguyen (Dave), Sydney Myers (Danny), and Bailey Wheeler; great-granddaughters Kairi, Piper, and Emily Nguyen; and special friend Billy Pedigo.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Mabel Cornwell and Merlean (Cornwell) Holland; brother-in-law Bro. Melvin Holland; and nephews Michael “Bull” Poland, Richard “Stitch” Poland, Anthony Poland, and Carey Holland.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with interment to follow in Beautiful Home Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday morning after 9:00 a.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m. Bro. Jim Finley and Bro. Bengie Blackwell will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Beautiful Home Cemetery in memory of Anna Dare.
