Billy Gene Miller, 85, of Wingfield, passed away September 14, 2024 at his residence.
The Edmonson County native was born April 1, 1939 to the late Barney Raymond and Dorothy Aileen Hawks Miller. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Misty Renee Miller; and brother, Jerry Lee Miller. Billy was a member of Pleasant Grove (Miller’s Hill) Baptist Church. He was a jack of all trades having worked in a number of fields doing a variety of jobs. Billy loved old cars and spent many hours fishing in Green River. Most fishing trips were followed by riverside fish fries and impromptu guitar playing and singing.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Judy Jane Jilg Miller; son, Danny Lee Miller (Trisha); grandchildren, Curtis Miller (Stacie Oliver), Hunter Lee Miller (Kaylee), Malachi Lay (Kathryn), Jeremiah Lay, and Jackie Lay (Kristen); eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the J.C. Kirby & Son Broadway Chapel with visitation from 3 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service. The family requests no flowers.
