Angel Tree sign-ups set for late September

If you have a child that needs to participate in the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program, you may sign them up later this month. Sign-ups will be held at the Barren County Family YMCA, at 1 Ymca Way in Glasgow on Sept. 24, 25 and 26. Sign-ups 24-25 will be 7:00 a.m. ‘til noon, and 3:00 ‘til 7:00 p.m. on the 26.

Participants need to bring valid/current identification,  their SNAP benefits award letter and their children’s clothing and shoe sizes.

The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program began in 1979 when Majors Charles and Shirley White set up a Christmas tree at a shopping mall in Lynchburg, Virginia. The program’s name comes from the Hallmark cards with angel pictures that the gift requests were written on
