Julia Crain

Julia Crain formerly of Horse Cave, KY, departed this life Friday, September 13, 2024 at the age of 87 at her residence in Glasgow, KY.

She was born in Louisville, KY to the late Daniel Paul Crain and Julia Blanche (Hazell) Crain of Hardyville, KY. She was a former member of Church of Christ affiliation when her children were young.

She was a multi-faceted person with a plethora of talents. Anyone that experienced knowing her throughout life knew her utmost capabilities. In early childhood she played the organ and piano in church and retained that skill throughout life till the disease wouldn’t allow her to do so. Had a lifetime passion of growing beautiful garden veggies and Lord how she loved her flowers and puzzles. Exceptional seamstress whose talents enticed her to custom sew for other people while also making her own children’s school clothes, wedding gowns, preemie dresses and also contributing to all the daily farmwork. Spectacular cook who could prepare some of the finest meals that would have impressed the other infamous Julia C. A very strong-willed person that was always learning through her love of reading and her fair share of life lessons along the way. Above all her challenges throughout life, she loved her family, each and every one, every day and cherished all those memories for as long as she could remember.

Preceded in death by a brother Oscar Crain, a sister Rita Karem, and a great grandchild Becca Piercy.

Survived by her children Becky (Wayne) Hatcher, Amanda J. Reynolds, Julia (Terry) Williams and Mark Jones, 9 grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren. Survived by a brother Frank Crain (Alma Ford), Elizabethtown, KY and Roger (Dinah) Crain, Horse Cave, KY.

Also survived by several nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.

A special thanks and gratitude to her sitter, Susan Wells, Palliative Care-Lori Walton, Hospice Nurses Corey, Krissie, John, Leslie, Brandy, Stacey, Kira, and Shelby.

Honorary mention to one of her caregivers, granddaughter Alanda who has exemplified absolute and complete selfless love and care to her Granny throughout this valiant journey.

Public Visitation will be: Sunday, September 15, 2024, from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at Winn Funeral Home.

Private Graveside Services immediately following in the Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. Winn Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request any donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory. Winn Funeral Home would be honored to assist.
