Today is National Teddy Bear Day, and Kentucky State Police is doing its part to put a smile on children’s faces in the name of the beloved teddy bears.

“Trooper Teddy Bears were created as a way for us to have something to give to children during traumatic incidents including domestics, wrecks and sexual trauma. We try to to do our part to comfort them,” said Trooper Jonathan Houk of KSP, Post 13.

Last week and this week KSP troopers from across the state took the opportunity to take the Trooper Teddy Bears to children in hospitals and advanced medical care settings.

If you would like a Trooper Teddy you may purchase one from the State Police for $25. The organization takes up donations for the bears and the money received from the sale of the bears goes back into the program, and is dedicated specifically to other things the entity does for children throughout the year.

“The money we raise goes to kids. We put it back in the community by purchasing Halloween candy or items for Shop with a Trooper,” Houk added.
