Tompkinsville – Junior running back Cameron Bulle was the team’s answer on Friday night, rushing for 177 yards and 2 touchdowns on 27 carries in Glasgow’s 15-14 overtime win against the Falcons at Darrell Carter Memorial Stadium.
In a thrilling overtime game, Glasgow took an early lead with an 11-yard touchdown by Bulle as the first quarter expired, followed by Jared Malagon’s extra point to make it 7-0. Monroe County responded quickly in the second quarter, tying the game 7-7. Both teams struggled to score in regulation, pushing the game into overtime. Monroe County scored first on a quarterback keeper, leading 14-7, but Glasgow answered in one play with Bulle’s 10-yard touchdown, followed by a successful two-point conversion after a penalty, securing a 15-14 victory and keeping Glasgow undefeated at 3-0.
The Scotties finished the game with 295 total yards, 193 on the ground and 102 through the air, while picking up 17 first downs and turning the ball over twice. Glasgow’s defense allowed 239 total yards, 146 on the ground and 43 through the air, while allowing the Falcons to pick up 16 first downs and getting one turnover.
“I thought we [both teams] did a lot of good things and we both saw things we could probably work on a little bit,” said head coach Jeff Garmon. “I thought we controlled the whole game offensively. We got ourselves in some bad situations with penalties and shot ourselves in the foot.”
Glasgow is back in action next Friday, September 13th when they return to Hank Royse Stadium to play host to the 3-0 Allen County-Scottsville Patriots. Since 2017, the Scotties have won six of the last seven meetings against the Patriots, with their most recent win in 2023 which saw Glasgow get a 43-7 win at Patriot Field.
