Mrs. Ara Jane (Bowen) King of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the Cumberland Valley Mannor & Rehab in Burkesville, Kentucky, having attained the age of 90 years, 1 month, and 27 days. She was born on Sunday, July 8, 1934, in the Bear Creek Community of Cumberland County, Kentucky, the daughter of Luther & Ruth (Williams) Bowen.
She was of the Christian faith, and was a homemaker & lifelong babysitter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard King, whom she wed on Sunday, June 30, 1957, brothers, Wayne Bowen, Roy Bowen, Berle Bowen, sisters, Margenia Williams, Nelda Pierce, half siblings, James Bowen, Winnie Arndell, Vida Doss, Oleta Arndell.
She is survived by her special niece, Etheline (& Joe) Neeley of Marrowbone, Kentucky, several nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, sisters-in-law, Weltha King, Joe Bowen, and Yvonne King, and special friend Gustava Thompson of Bowling Green, Kentucky.
The funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, with Bro. Gary Cash officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 8, 2024 beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. Burial will be in the Burkesville Cemetery in Burkesville, Kentucky.
