Margaret Lee Reeder Oaks

Margaret Lee Reeder Oaks, age 86, died Sunday, September 1, 2024 at Cal Turner Specialty and Rehab in Scottsville, KY.

Margaret was born March 17, 1938, in Allen County, to the late Carl Reeder and Annie Austin Reeder. She married Harold Gene Oaks on June 1, 1956 and soon joined him in active membership at Mt. Union Methodist Church where she served as pianist for more than sixty years. Music was a God given talent for Margaret as she played by ear and could play most any song she had ever heard. For many years, she played for southern gospel quartets and conventions including; Scottsville Aires and Scottsville Echoes. The latter being comprised by her husband Gene, twin sister Mary Britt, and brother-in-law Depp Britt.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Harold Gene Oaks, her twin sister Mary Britt, and many nieces, nephews and cousins with whom she had close relationships.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the T. W. Crow & Son Funeral Home and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Union Methodist Church.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024 at Mt. Union Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
