BOWLING GREENWKU Soccer struggled against No. 6 Arkansas on Sunday afternoon in Fayetteville, suffering an 8-0 defeat to the Razorbacks.

Arkansas showed off its offensive firepower with four goals in each half against WKU. The Razorbacks came into the match leading all of NCAA Division I in total goals, total assists, total points and total shots on goal this season.

The Razorbacks had a 4-0 lead at halftime, scoring the first four goals at the 13th, 16th, 18th and 33rd minute marks. The Hilltoppers got off three shots in the second half, including two on goal. After four more Arkansas goals at the 52nd, 55th, 61st and 71st minute marks, WKU was able to hold off the Razorbacks for the final 19 minutes of the match.

“Arkansas was better than us today in every facet of the game,” said head coach Jason Neidell. “There’s a reason they are a flagship program in the SEC. The experience will make us better, and we will regroup to get ready for another good program in Dayton on Thursday.”

In the last four seasons, Arkansas is 33-1-2 at home with the lone loss coming in the NCAA Tournament. The Razorbacks have outscored opponents 31-3 this season and have outdone their last three opponents 22-0.

WKU Soccer will stay on the road to face Dayton on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. The Hilltoppers will return home on Sunday, Sept. 8 to host Arkansas State at 1 p.m.
