Louise Ann Johnson

Aug 27, 2024 | 8:01 AM

Louise Ann Johnson, 85, passed away peacefully at home on August 21, 2024.

She was born June 22, 1939, in East McKeesport, Pennsylvania, to Mabel and Miles Mainwaring. In 1960, she married her childhood friend, Richard Johnson. Two years later they moved to Africa to serve as missionaries in what is now known as the Democratic Republic of Congo. They left the missionary work in 1964 with the birth of their first child but remained in Africa and stayed active in their volunteer preaching and Bible education work.

Louise lived in Africa for over 20 years and had five more children with her husband – returning to the United States in 1983. Her life adventure continued in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Colorado. After her first husband’s passing, Louise married her late husband, Lee English in Colorado.

Louise is survived by five children, ten grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and stepchildren. Despite health challenges, she remained active as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and kept her keen wit and sense of humor.

A memorial service will be held virtually on September 14, 2024.
