Scott Harper Named Assistant Superintendent of Instruction for Barren County Schools

Scott Harper has been appointed as the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction for Barren County Schools. In his new role, Harper will oversee the district’s instructional services, programs for assessment, gifted and talented services, career and technical education, and the induction of new employees.

Harper brings over three decades of experience in public education to his new position. He began his career in 1993 as a science teacher at Christian County Middle School. Over the years, he has served in various capacities, including guidance counselor, Director of Assessment and Communications, and assistant principal at Logan County High School. In 2005, Harper became the principal of Austin Tracy Elementary School, where he remained until 2011. For the past 12 years, he has served as Barren County Schools’ Director of Instruction and Technology.

Harper holds a Bachelor of Science in Middle School Education and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Murray State University, where he also earned his certifications in school administration.

Reflecting on his appointment, Harper stated, “I am incredibly honored and humbled to serve Barren County Schools. I am thankful to have spent the past 19 years working in this community and look forward to helping support the students, teachers, and administrators in strategic instructional programs for years to come.”

Barren County Schools Superintendent Amy Irwin praised Harper’s dedication to the district. “Scott Harper has demonstrated a commitment to excellence as a principal and director in Barren County Schools. He is an innovative leader with a clear vision for teaching and learning, and I know he will continue to advocate for teachers and students in his new role as Assistant Superintendent of Instruction.”

With his wealth of experience and a strong commitment to the community, Harper is poised to continue fostering educational growth and success across Barren County Schools.
