The Glasgow City Council is set to convene for its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, August 12, at 6:00 p.m. at the City Hall Council Chambers, located at 126 E. Public Square, Glasgow, Kentucky.
This meeting will include the swearing-in and introduction of three new police officers: Mica Janes, Jimmy Phelps, and James Vickery, as well as a badge pinning ceremony for newly appointed firefighters Eric Miller and Lane Poland.
One of the key highlights of the meeting will be the recognition of five firefighters—Lt. Ryan Gibson, Sgt. Adam McBride, Sgt. Bo Turner, Firefighter Trey Colson, and Firefighter Eric Miller—who have been credited with recent lifesaving CPR efforts.
In terms of new business, the council will conduct a first reading of an ordinance, which proposes to amend the city’s zoning ordinance. The amendment involves the rezoning of a 7.88-acre property located at 110-113 Embark Court from an R-2 medium density residential district to an R-4 medium density multi-family residential district.
Additionally, the council will consider a resolution to ratify an agreement with W Principles, LLC, relating to contractor services for the American Legion Park project.
The mayor is also expected to make several appointments to the Glasgow-Barren County Animal Control Board. These appointments include Chasity Lowery as the City Council representative, Dr. Chad Groce as the veterinary representative, and Julie Adkins and Glenda Yarbrough as city resident representatives. Yarbrough will also be appointed to the Housing Authority of Glasgow Board of Commissioners.
The council will also remind residents to prepare for the upcoming Household Hazardous Waste Collection and Free Shredder Day, scheduled for Saturday, August 24, at Beaver Trail from 9 a.m. to noon.
