Rock and Rescue to Benefit BRAWA will be held at Plaza Theatre

Aug 5, 2024 | 9:01 AM

This Saturday August 10, get ready to rock for the cats and dogs of Barren County at Rock and Rescue at the Plaza Theatre. This “tail wagging” good time is a fundraiser for the Barren River Animal Welfare Association (BRAWA), and the first of its kind.

“BRAWA’s operating budget comes from donations, fundraising and grants and BRAWA is always looking for ways to expand our fundraising opportunities as well as promote our mission among a broader audience. We believe the Rock and Rescue event at the Plaza will provide a great night of rock music while also supporting BRAWA and promoting our mission to save homeless animals in our community,” said Rhonda Trautman, spokesperson for BRAWA. Money raised from this event will go directly to support medical supplies, spay/neuter, food, and general care of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens at the shelter while they await their new homes.

“Due to the generous support of our sponsors The Peoples Bank, The Henry and Clark Foundation, Days Inn Glasgow, and Tom Boles Photography every ticket sold for the event will go to support homeless animals in our community,” Trautman said.

The event includes three rock bands with local and regional connections.  Music coordinator and guitarist for Moral Code, Cody Meek, is proud to be part of the event, and happy to offer local bands a bigger stage to play their music.

“Hopefully it will bring attention to these types of artists who normally don’t get to have that kind of attention.  I think it is a great thing, and it can also get the opportunity for this to happen again,” Meek said.

The three bands slated to take the stage are blues-rock band Taildragger https://www.facebook.com/TaildraggerRocks which features Jonny McGee and Dean Smith, Alternative Rock Band, Moral Code https://www.facebook.com/MoralCode270 featuring Meek, along with Lucas Christensen, Brett Willis and Rob Wray, and the Trash Devils https://www.facebook.com/trashdevils which features Dean Collier, Wade England and Nate Hornback.

Reserved seats are $20, and can be purchased now at historicplaza.com, at the Plaza Ticket Office or at the door the night of the event. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the music starts at 7:00 p.m. VIP tickets are $50.
