Carolyn Turner Lee, (72), of Bowling Green, KY passed away on August 2, 2024. Originally from the Waterview community in Cumberland County, Carolyn returned to her hometown after graduating from Western Kentucky University and spent over thirty years in the education system as both teacher and guidance counselor. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend, and is survived by her husband of 51years, Gary R Lee of Bowling Green; son, John (Stacie) Lee of Bowling Green; daughter, Lindsey (Devin) Devore of Bowling Green; mother, Charlene Turner of Bowling Green; brother, Jerry Turner of Bowling Green; sister-in-law, Jackie Turner Alexander; grandchildren, Jackson & Karson Lee and Silas Devore. She was preceded in death by her father, Leon Turner, of Waterview, KY and her brother, Curtis Turner, also of Waterview, KY.
In both professional and daily life, Carolyn made the lives of everyone around her better. Not only did she impact thousands of students over the course of her career, but she avidly supported charitable and community outreach efforts and, without hesitation, prioritized the needs of others, whether that be family member or stranger.
Carolyn was simply so much to so many; the planner, the organizer, the spark that made things happen; the calendar-keeper and list maker who never missed appointments, birthdays, and special events; she was “Granna” to her grandchildren and, in good humor, “Aunt Granna” to her great nieces and nephews; she, without judgement, was the listener and confidant who let the rest of us live our lives, but was always willing to help and offer advice if asked; the host of many a family get-together and the maker of the best Thanksgiving dressing; the photographer who never wanted her own picture taken, but who made sure moments, both mundane and momentous, were captured for memory; the note-writer and card-sender whose cursive (and always neat) handwriting was as distinctive as her mother’s; the bargain hunter who even found good deals for the rest of us; the one who served her community, who embraced everyone, who loved her family above all else.
A private family service will be held at the Marrowbone Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Carolyn’s legacy of service, the family asks that all donations be made to local organizations in your respective communities that also work to improve the lives of others.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel.
