Alvina Mae Abbott Burch

Alvina Mae Abbott Burch age 86, passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Ogallala, Nebraska to the late Ernest and Beulah Bye Abbott. She is the widow of James J. Burch Jr.

She is also preceded in death by, a brother Ernest Leonard Abbott, great grandson Keaton Lawrence, and several brothers and sisters-in-law, that she thought of as her own and loved them dearly.

She was Assistant Coordinator, for Environmental Planning & Assistance. Project IMPACT Coordinator, Assistant Director of BGWC Emergency Mgmt. Assistant Warren County Rescue Squad Director (Jim, her husband was director). She wrote the county’s disaster plan and was the driving force behind the COWS sirens, which were put task less than two weeks after the first 12 were activated prior to the April 16, 1998 super-hailstorm. Millions were reported in property damage but no deaths. The CALVES internal warning system was her next project during her tenure at WCEMA. She was a member of Meadowland Baptist Church.

Alvina is survived by her daughter, Alice Mae Tabor and sons, James Jay Burch (Debbie Keown) and Allen Burch (Janie) all of Bowling Green. Grandchildren, Amy Hurt, Danielle Rogers, Johnny Cline, Stephanie Haisty (Mark), Matt Burch (Cynthia), Jamie Williams (Dave), Alicia Burch, Carla Lawrence (Chris), Brandi Raby (Derrick). Great grandchildren, Tyler (Kristin), Colton (Hannah), Haylie, Landon, Kasey (Jordan), Kayla, Katelynn, Kaleb, Benjamin, Ethan, Austin, Skyler, Hannah, Makayla, Mashayla, Gabe, Hudson, Camron, Blake, Morgan, Everleigh. 7 great great grandchildren.2 sisters, Mary and Daisy of California. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Extended family and care givers Kacey and Dawn.

Visitation will be from 12 noon to 8:00 pm Monday and after 10:00 am Tuesday all at the J.C. Kirby and Son Broadway Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday at the J.C. Kirby & Son Broadway Chapel with burial to follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
