Mr. James Richard Thoune, age 73, of Bowling Green, KY passed away Monday, July 29, 2024, at Hospice of Southern Kentucky.
James was born September 12, 1950, to the late Edward Anton Thoune and the late Kathryn Ellen Barrett Thoune.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Theresa Thoune. He is also survived by a brother, Bill Thoune and his niece Angela.
James attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church and received his Master’s Degree in Sociology from University of California, San Diego. He belonged to the International Braille Chess Association and the US Blind Chess Association and to the South Central Council of the Blind. James loved playing chess, biking, canoeing, gardening, and traveling.
The family has entrusted J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel with arrangements.
James’ wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service in his memory will be held at a later date.
