GPD sees several new officers added to its ranks

The Glasgow Police Department has recently welcomed several new officers, bringing with them fresh perspectives, talents and ambitions.

Officer Jimmy Phelps was sworn in by Mayor Henry Royse, with 20 years of law enforcement experience, Officer Phelps brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role.

He will be serving as a School Resource Officer at Glasgow Middle School.

In addition to Officer Phelps’ swearing-in, the department also celebrated the graduation of Officer Micah Janes from the Department of Criminal Justice Training (Class 549) in Richmond, Kentucky.

Officer Janes was honored with the Coordinators Award during his training, a testament to his exemplary performance and dedication. He will now begin his Police Training Officer (PTO) Program before taking on duties as a solo unit. This achievement underscores the commitment of the Glasgow Police Department to professional development and excellence in service.

Similarly, Officer James Vickery graduated from the same training class and received the Special Projects Award, recognizing his outstanding contributions during the program.

Like Officer Janes, he will now start his PTO Program, preparing to serve the community independently. The department is proud of Officer Vickery’s accomplishments and looks forward to his continued success in his law enforcement career.

These developments reflect the Glasgow Police Department’s ongoing efforts to enhance its team with experienced and well-trained officers.
