Kathryn Janette Cook, age 98, of Leitchfield, passed away Friday, (July 26, 2024) at Grayson Nursing and Rehab in Leitchfield, KY.
She was born on November 10, 1925 in Grayson County, KY, the daughter of the late Alton and Lena Anderson Weedman.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting, embroidery, attending church, making roses from funeral ribbons, donating quilts and helping people. She was a member of the Broadway Baptist Church.
She is survived by her step-children, Bradley Cook, Joe Brooks & Nell Millinger; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Erma Dodson (William) and Wilma Whitehead, both of Leitchfield. Several nieces, nephews, and an abundance of friends, including close friend Alfreda Pierce, also survive.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by three step-children, Willard Cook, Faye King & Barbara Embry; first husband, Carl Brooks; second husband, Owen Cook; five brothers, Marvin, Loyd, Elton, Henry & Howard Weedman; a sister, Lillian Odean Wheeler; an infant sister Juanita Weedman; and three brothers-in-laws, Elroy Williams, Raymond Spencer Jr., and Curtis Whitehead.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, (August 3, 2024) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Jerry Weedman and Bro. William Dodson will be officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 09:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
