Mrs. Lois Downs, age 87 of Smiths Grove, KY, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Tristar Greenview Regional Hospital.
Lois was born March 10, 1937, to the late John William Lamons and the late Thelma O. Wetherbee Lamons. She is also preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” C. Downs of 54 years.
She is survived by her two daughters, Tracie A. Jacobs (Bill) of Franklin, TN, and Lynn Windham (Terry) of Smiths Grove, KY; one son, Mark Downs (Bonnie) of Franklin, TN; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Lois graduated and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of the South of Sewanee in Sewanee Tennessee and became a Verger of the Church of the Mediator in Meridian Mississippi. In the early 60’s, Lois became a model in Toledo, Ohio. Lois became a homemaker, and a seamstress. She was very artistic, loved working puzzles and enjoyed traveling.
Lois’s wishes were to be cremated and be laid to rest beside her husband in the Church of the Mediator Cemetery in Meridian Mississippi.
The family has entrusted J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel with arrangements.
There are currently no services scheduled. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Mississippi.
