In a show of unprecedented outreach and inclusivity the newly formed Pride Committee will be hosting it’s inaugural Pride Picnic Event on August 3rd at Beaver Creek Park.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. residents are encouraged to come and socialize, all the while showing support for the LGBTQ community. Steve Jones, chairman of the committee, spoke on what he hopes residents take away from the event.
Audio PlayerThe Glasgow Pride Committee came together as a result of the Hall Place’s cancelled Drag Brunch event earlier this summer. The cancellation was announced after organizers feared for the safety of attendees due to threatening rhetoric primarily fomented on social media.
Jones, who spearheaded the formation of the committee around a month ago, explained how the commission came into being.
