Mrs. Barbara Johnson Canary, age 85, of Bowling Green, KY, passed peacefully on Monday July 22, 2024, at Greenview Regional Hospital.
Barbara was born on November 23, 1938, in Bowling Green, KY to the late Carney Johnson and Virginia Lowe Johnson. She is also preceded in death by her husband Vernon Canary and her daughter Twana Canary Stahl.
Barbara is survived by her son Jett Reed Canary of St. Petersburg, FL; grandsons, Zachary Stahl and Caleb Stahl; two great grandchildren, Bowie and Atlas Stahl of Bowling Green, KY; sister, Shirley Carter (Bill); son-in-law, Gregory Stahl and a host of nieces and nephews.
Barbara was a graduate of Bowling Green University. She retired from the Kentucky Department of Transportation where she was a Safety Inspector for the state. She held her family and her strong Christian faith central to her life.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 1:00pm at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Visitation with the family will begin at 11:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm. Barbara will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery 1 on Monday, July 29, 2024, at 1:00pm.
Per Barbara’s wishes, she wants everyone to wear an outfit in honor of her memory, and nothing of sorrow. This is a time to celebrate the life of an extraordinary person and come together to share fond memories. A casual outfit is acceptable.
