Jul 22, 2024 | 7:31 AM
Kaléah Francis, better known by her stage name Kswagg, is a rising star from Glasgow whose music is deeply intertwined with her faith.
At just 25 years old, Francis is not only making waves in the music industry but is also a successful business owner. She runs her own record label, VYB Records, which is making a significant mark on the local music scene.
From an early age, Francis’s life has been a rollercoaster of highs and lows, battling depression and the temptations of party culture. Yet, through it all, her mother and child have been her unwavering rocks, supporting her every step of the way.
Francis’s journey began in the humble surroundings of local churches, where she first started singing a mix of covers and her own original songs. Her music encapsulates a wide range of genres, showcasing her versatility and ability to connect with diverse audiences.
It was at a bar performance, however, where she truly felt the profound impact of her music.
After the show, a woman approached her to share how much one of her original songs, “God’s Not Done,” had meant to her and reaffirmed her connection with her faith.
This heartfelt interaction came at a time when Francis herself was struggling, and it lifted her out of a dark place, reaffirming the power and purpose of her music.
Known for her bubbly and infectious personality, Francis brings a vibrant energy to every stage she graces. This was evident at her recent performance at the Backwoods Music Festival in Lewisburg, TN, on July 20th. The festival, featuring big names like DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia, Project Pat, and La Chat, was a lively celebration with music, food, vendors, and a spectacular fireworks show.
The event also had a heartwarming cause, raising funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Francis, performing as Kswagg, delivered a captivating set that resonated deeply with the audience.
Her dynamic presence and soulful voice shone through as she performed a blend of covers and original songs, each one reflecting her deep connection to her music and her faith.
In addition to her music career, Francis is embarking on a new venture to give back to the community. She is in the process of starting a nonprofit organization called Saved by Grace, an initiative aimed at promoting sobriety. Francis plans to incorporate music therapy as part of the process, believing in its power to heal and inspire.
For new artists, Francis offers heartfelt advice: “Surround yourself with positivity and work only with those who promote your mental health.”
Her story is one of resilience and hope, a testament to the healing power of music and faith.
As she continues to rise in the music scene, Francis remains grounded in her roots, committed to inspiring others through her songs.
With each performance, she not only entertains but also shares a piece of her journey, touching the hearts of everyone who listens.
