Jul 21, 2024 | 6:59 AM

On the evening of July 19, a routine traffic stop turned into a significant arrest when Cave City Police Department officers apprehended Trisha L. Hinshaw on multiple charges, including driving under the influence and fleeing the scene of an accident.

At approximately 8:26 p.m., Officer Wesley Hicks observed a black SUV, driven by Hinshaw, collide with the rear of a white SUV at the intersection of South Dixie Highway and Happy Valley Street.

Rather than stopping, the black SUV continued on Happy Valley.

Officer Hicks attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but Hinshaw’s vehicle failed to comply. The subsequent investigation revealed that Hinshaw was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.

She was arrested and charged with a series of offenses: leaving the scene of an accident, fleeing or evading police (first degree – motor vehicle), DUI (first degree, aggravated circumstances), reckless driving, failure to produce an insurance card, wanton endangerment (first degree, four counts), failure to report a traffic accident, resisting arrest, possession of an open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle, and failure to give the vehicle half of the highway.

Hinshaw was transported to the Barren County Detention Center following her arrest.

Officer Hicks received assistance on the scene from Officer Chuck Webb
