Mikie Lynn Cannon

Jul 9, 2024 | 7:50 AM

Mikie Lynn Cannon, age 69, passed away on July 6 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Warren County native was born to the late Harold E. Cannon and Opal E. Brown Cannon Cherry on February 17, 1955. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers; Monte Cannon and Craig Cannon; brother-in-law Larry Dye, sister-in-law Cathy Dye Sims, and a nephew Todd Cannon.

Mikie was a graduate of Warren Central High School, class of 1973, where he met his high school sweetheart and were married in June of 1976. Mikie spent many years as an employee of Houchens Industries as well as at Family Dollar. He also spent many years working with his family at Hansel & Gretel Daycare. Mikie loved fishing and playing music. He played the drums with Country Freedom Band for over 15 years with his father at the Saddle Club in Morgantown, KY. But most of all, he loved his family. Mikie was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who dedicated his life to providing for and supporting his family. He loved nothing more than spending time with his daughter and grandchildren. He was always there for them, whether it be driving them to college classes, so they don’t have to walk up that awful hill, picking them up from school in another county or cheering them on at their sporting events. Mikie was one of a kind and will be truly missed. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will always be his daughter’s hero.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Edwina Dye Cannon, and their daughter Natasha Widner and her husband Joe. His brother, Danny Cannon. Two grandchildren; Michayla Cannon Gray and her husband Trevar, and Jasper Widner and his wife Layla. One great grandson Jack Gray, and sister-in-laws Paula Dye Maxwell and Pam Cannon. The following nieces and nephews also survive; Christopher Cannon, Kendra Russell, Toni Hayes, Tabatha Batshon, Tyson Cannon, Scott Grinstead, Brad Hullett, and Logan Hullett.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at the J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 10, from 2 until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 until time of service. Burial will follow in Bowling Green Gardens.
