Glasgow’s downtown square was alive with the sounds of cinematic magic as the Glasgow Community Band held its highly anticipated “Concert on the Square” event July 5th.

The scope and diversity of the crowd brought together by the band speaks to the unifying language of music.
This year’s theme, “A Night at the Movies,” drew a crowd of enthusiastic music lovers who were treated to an evening of beloved film scores performed by the talented volunteer ensemble. Under the expert direction of Robbie Fudge, the band delivered a captivating performance featuring pieces from iconic movies. The repertoire included selections from John Williams’ legendary Star Wars score, which transported the audience to a galaxy far, far away. The band also delighted listeners with heartwarming numbers from Disney’s The Lion King, bringing the savannah to life in the heart of Glasgow.
The evening was marked by a poignant moment when Bill Brogan, a former band director and avid supporter of the Glasgow Community Band, was presented with a long-time service award.
Brogan, who has dedicated decades to the musical arts as both an educator and an advocate, was honored for his unwavering commitment to nurturing musical talent in the community. The award presentation highlighted the deep sense of appreciation and respect held by the community for his contributions.
