Norma Ruth Nunn Waddell, age 83, of Three Springs, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at her home. She was a native of Hart and Metcalfe Counties, living all of her life in the Three Springs area.
Ruth united in marriage to JC “Bub” Waddell on June 1, 1957. Bub and Ruth moved to their current residence (Ruth’s family farm) in 1961 where they loved and reared a large family, consisting of five children, five children-in-law, 14 grandchildren (along with their spouses), and 26 great-grandchildren.
Ruth was known for her hospitality, love and service in the Center Church of Christ where she was a member for over 60 years, and her many contributions to the farming community alongside her husband, Bub. Ruth was an active member in the Hart County Homemakers, and avid quilter, making and sharing dozens with friends and family over the years.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, JC “Bub” Waddell, her parents, Thurman and Roena Nunn, and her brother, Bobby Nunn. She is survived by her children, Carey Waddell (Lisa), Clint Waddell (Ivy), Craig Waddell (Sarah), Janey Cline (Billy), and Joni Peden (Jason); 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one sister, Peggy Duncan (Bill), three sisters-in-law, Linda Nunn, Jan Waddell, and Jean Hedgepeth.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M. CT on Monday, July 1, 2024 and again from 8:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. CT on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Winn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. CT on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Winn Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Houk Cemetery in Hardyville, Kentucky.
