Jun 19, 2024 | 5:20 AM

Brenda (Lawhon) Garmon died June 15 at Cumberland Valley Manor. She was 85.

Mrs. Garmon, youngest of Thomas J. and Lucy (Alexander) Lawhon’s eight children, was raised in the Grider community. She was a graduate of Marrowbone’s Martha Norris High School and even as most of her memories faded, could recall her senior trip with the other six members of
her 1957 graduating class.

She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and cousin and relished each of those roles. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Burkesville and the Marrowbone Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Garmon was preceded in death by her husband, James Lenva Garmon, her first husband, Glayron (Smokey) Anderson, her parents and her brothers and sisters: Jane Foubare, Virginia Alexander, Thomas Lawhon, Mary Frances Alexander, Gideon Lawhon, Linda Earle, and Jack Lawhon.

She is survived by her children, Paula Anderson (Jerry Tipton) of Lexington; Kelly Anderson (Margaret) of Marrowbone; Tony Anderson (Claudia) of Bloomfield, six grandchildren (Sean Anderson (Nikki), Thomas Anderson (Mandy), Stephen Tipton, Jack Tipton, Katy Spivey (Kameron) and Becky Hendricks (Dean), five great-grandchildren (Reiss, Caroline, Addison, Ian
and Hayden) and her sister-in-law, Rochelle Lawhon.

The family is grateful to the staff of Cumberland Valley Manor for their kind and compassionate care during her lengthy illness.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 21 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ballou and Stotts Funeral Home. Services will be at the First Christian Church of Burkesville on Saturday, June 22 at 11 a.m. Friends are also welcome to call at the church prior to the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Burial will be in the Marrowbone Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Marrowbone Cemetery, PO Box 41, Marrowbone, KY 42759.
