Cave City’s Cars and Coffee Event Buzzes with ‘June Bugs’ Theme

Jun 3, 2024 | 12:02 PM
This past Saturday, Cave City’s Cars & Coffee event delighted automobile enthusiasts with a unique theme dedicated to Volkswagen vehicles.

Held on Broadway Street, the event kicked off at 8 a.m. and continued through the early afternoon, with enthusiasts exchanging stories and tips on restoration and customization, while others simply enjoyed the nostalgic atmosphere created by the rows of brightly colored vehicles.

The “June Bugs” theme attracted a vibrant mix of Volkswagen Beetles, Buses, and other iconic models. The event, which is piloted by the Building Local Development Group (BLDG) has seen a torrent of success since its inception.
Jennifer Mcnett, Director of Cave City Tourism elaborated on what the event entails.
While separate from the tourism department BLDG holds an important role in the community as it is led by small business owners in the area who wish to see, not just their business, but all of Cave City thrive. With up to 200 cars at previous events, Cars & Coffee brings in locals and tourists alike, giving the businesses in the area an added edge to their summer rush.
While the street was lined with beetles and buses of all makes and models, one stood out from the rest and was voted best in show. A pastel pink 1974 VW bus, lovingly dubbed “Sparkles” by its owner Terra Gilbert, claimed their prize after the votes were tallied.
With its blend of classic car culture, community spirit, and small-town charm, the Cars and Coffee events through the summer promise to be a downtown tradition for years to come.
The next Cars & Coffee event will be held on July 6th with the theme, Truck Thunder.
