225 Years of Glasgow with Sam Terry tonight @ 6

May 9, 2024 | 7:33 AM

Glasgow  –  Local Historian Sam Terry, known by many abroad for his expertise in Kentucky history; and, very common to these airwaves in “The Archives” segment, will provide a special presentation of the very beginnings of Glasgow’s organized existence.  Stories and facts will be shared about the very beginnings of the city, and those who had a vision for it’s future.  Those who find interest in the heritage of the community would be in regret for not attending this truly, in every sense of the word, “historic” event.

At 6:00pm tonight in the Glasgow City Council Chambers, you’ll get to experience this special historical presentation from Mr. Terry.  The chambers are on the 3rd floor of Glasgow City Hall on the Glasgow square.  The event begins at 6:00 pm.

Thanks to the diligent work of City Clerk Mona Simmons, some of the first official Glasgow city documents have been preserved for display and viewing during this kickoff event for the 225th Anniversary of the city.

Celtic Rock band Seven Nations will play a free show Friday night on the square.  The show begins at 7:00pm.  Food trucks, inflatables, and more fun will begin at 5:00pm.  Celebrate the Scottish heritage and enjoy a familiar “highland games” favorite at this family-friendly celebration.
