The T.J. Community Mission Foundation and Shanti Niketan Hospice Home extended a warm invitation to the community for a momentous dedication ceremony of the “Manju Garden and Tree of Life Fountain.”
This exquisite garden, located at Shanti Niketan Hospice Home, stands as a testament to the power of community support and philanthropy.
The creation of the Manju Garden was made possible through the generous contributions of Drs. Bharati and Bharat Mody. It serves as a tribute to the enduring friendships cherished by the Modys, honoring the memories of their dear friends: Billy Elmore, Nell and Ruel Houchens, Betty and David Bailey, Larry Garmon, and Freddie Travis. Their legacy lives on through the serene beauty of the garden, offering solace and comfort to those who visit. Neil Thornberry, CEO of T.J. Regional Health, spoke to the crowd about the Modys work, using a personal anecdote to show how they exhibit love and care in all things.
At the heart of the Manju Garden lies the majestic Tree of Life Fountain, a symbol of vitality, resilience, and the interconnectedness of all living beings. This stunning centerpiece is a testament to the unwavering support of Larry T. Glass, a cherished friend and supporter of the T.J. Community Mission Foundation.
His commitment to the foundation’s mission of serving the community has left an indelible mark, embodied by the enduring presence of the Tree of Life Fountain. Karla Gentry, Director of Shanti Niketan, also used a story to embody her feelings toward not only the garden, but to the work she and her staff do.
The dedication ceremony was a poignant and uplifting occasion, bringing together members of the community to celebrate the enduring spirit of friendship, and compassion. Guests were invited to join in honoring the memories of loved ones and expressing gratitude for the generosity that has made the Manju Garden and Tree of Life Fountain possible.
Executive Director for the T.J. Mission Foundation, Randy Burns spotlighted several exceptional individuals in the crowd including Glasgow Mayor Henry Royse, Judge-Executive Jamie Bewley-Byrd and State Representative Steve Riley, each coming out in a show of solidarity to the lives that pass-through Shanti Niketan whose name in Sanskrit translates to “abode of peace.”
The ceremony provided attendees with the opportunity to experience the serenity and beauty of the garden firsthand. It is a momentous occasion that underscores the power of collective action in creating spaces of healing, reflection, and renewal within our community.
