Vickie Lynn Cherry Bunch

Vickie Lynn Cherry Bunch, age 72, of Horse Cave, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Ascension St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, TN.

Vickie was born on July 5, 1951 in Glasgow, KY. She was a lifelong, proud resident of Horse Cave, KY, living most of her life on her beloved Maple Avenue. Mrs. Bunch was a member of the Horse Cave United Methodist Church. Vickie was a 1970 graduate of Caverna High School and she obtained a degree in Secretarial Science from Bowling Green Business College. She enjoyed her thirty-three year career serving the students of the Caverna Independent Schools before her retirement in 2014. She was a mother figure to many students at CHS in her role as secretary in the guidance office. Vickie will be remembered for her incredibly loving heart, caring spirit, listening ear, and remarkable crochet talent. She loved spending time with her family and many friends. Vickie never met a stranger and was adored by everyone. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Bunch was preceded in death by her parents, H.M. and Holine Raymer Cherry, her mother and father-in-law, Mitchell and Mildred Bunch, her grandparents, Harry and Felia Belle Cherry and Hollie and Ella Raymer, brother-in-law, Bruce Bunch, and several cousins.

Vickie is survived by her husband of 50 years, Larry Mitchell Bunch, her daughter, Carrie Lynn, of Horse Cave, and her son, Kyle Mitchell and his wife, Kaycee, of Alvaton. Her dream of becoming a grandmother came true and she was a proud “Gickie” to Lincoln Wells and Delilah Palmer Bunch, who also survive. Additionally, Vickie is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Mary Louise Cherry and nieces and nephew, Holly Taylor (Chris), Amy Antle (Garrett), and Graham Cherry (Sierra), along with her seven great nieces and nephews, and granddogs, Spock and Radley.

Other survivors include: sisters-in-law Beverly Pedigo (Ronnie), Palvena Pace (Alan), and Liz Franklin (Willis), nieces Jennifer, Mary Beth, Michelle, Jane Ashley, Leslie, and Lindsay, nephew Chad, and eight additional great nieces and nephews. She also leaves many cousins and friends to cherish her memory.

Visitation will be held at Winn Funeral Home on Friday, May 3, 2024 from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M. Visitation will resume on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Winn Funeral Home from 11 A.M. – 7 P.M. Visitation will be held at Horse Cave United Methodist Church on Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 2 P.M. until time of service at 3 P.M.

Funeral services for Vickie Cherry Bunch will be Sunday, May 5, 2024 at 3 P.M. at the Horse Cave United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery.

Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Horse Cave United Methodist Church, the Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
