In a recent special called Cave City Council meeting, local entrepreneur Peggy Pippin emerged as the newest member of the council after former member Steve Pedigo resigned.
The meeting, held on Monday April 22nd, saw Pippin’s election to the council, marking a significant transition in local leadership. Pippin, a Hart County Alum and former general manager for the city’s Minit-Mart is known for her community involvement and business acumen, bringing a wealth of experience to her new role.
Pippin was nominated by Councilman Denny Doyle with Councilwoman Beverly Ford nominating her competitor, another local paragon of the community, Ronald Coffey, with the council ultimately voting in favor of Pippen, 3-2. Mayor Dwayne Hatcher, solidified Pippen’s appointment.
Pippin was sworn into the council moments later, with her and councilmembers abuzz at the new possibilities that the fresh public figure may bring.
The resignation of Steve Pedigo, the former council member, created a vacancy that Pippin is now poised to fill. While Pedigo’s reasons for resigning were not disclosed, Pippin’s appointment signifies a fresh perspective and renewed energy within the council.
In addition to Pippin’s election, Mayor Dwayne Hatcher provided an update on the annexation efforts along Highway 90 and Blossom Hill Subdivision. The annexation, aimed at expanding the city’s boundaries and enhancing infrastructure, has been a priority for the council in recent months. Mayor Hatcher highlighted progress made thus far and outlined future steps to ensure the smooth transition of the annexed areas into the city.
The meeting concluded with optimism for the future of Cave City, as both new and seasoned leaders work together to address community needs and propel the city forward.
