Glasgow, KY  –  Community leaders and volunteers united on the courthouse steps Tuesday to celebrate Child Abuse Prevention month.  Family Court judge Mica Pence and social workers in the county organized the event.  Glasgow Mayor Henry Royse and Barren County Judge-Executive Jamie Bewley Byrd signed the proclamation for the awareness of child abuse; an issue Judge Pence has to deal with in her court on a daily basis.

An art contest was held for local students.  The theme of the contest was “My Hero” where the children were asked to draw a picture explaining who their hero was.  Pence thanked all the participants and read the winners and honorable mentions to a large crowd of people gathered and dressed in blue.  Even a furry canine friend had blue hair to show awareness to child abuse prevention.

Local law enforcement stopped traffic while the entire crowd marched around the square.
