In a poignant tribute to the legacy of the late Judge Tom Emberton, the Metcalfe County Judicial Center is set to undergo a significant transformation. Not only will the center be renamed to the Tom Emberton Judicial Center but a statue in the late judges likeness will be constructed in front of the center to greet guests and residents of the small town.
Judge Emberton, a revered figure in Metcalfe County’s legal landscape, left an indelible mark on the community through his unwavering commitment to justice and tireless advocacy for the rights of its citizens. Tommy Garrett, Metcalfe County Clerk, knew the judge personally as he explains.
The decision to rename the center comes as a fitting tribute to Judge Emberton’s enduring legacy. Garrett, a retired Kentucky State Police Trooper, had a first hand experience with the judge professionally, this combined with their personal attachments led to Garrett making the call to state representative Jason Nemes, to begin the process of immortalizing the judge.
Construction of the statue is slated to begin in October, with local artist Russell Faxon heading the project.
As preparations for the statue’s construction get underway, residents of Metcalfe County eagerly anticipate the opportunity to honor Judge Tom Emberton and celebrate his enduring legacy of service and dedication to justice. Garrett, as a final thought to his late friend and pillar of the community said.
