In a strategic move aimed at bolstering the county’s infrastructure, the Hart County Fiscal Court has greenlit the acquisition of a 4 ton Falcon Hot Box, a crucial piece of equipment utilized in road maintenance and repair. The decision underscores the county’s commitment to enhancing transportation networks and ensuring the safety and efficiency of its roadways.

The hot box, is a specialized unit designed for asphalt recycling and thermal regeneration. It plays a pivotal role in prolonging the lifespan of roads by efficiently repairing potholes, cracks, and other surface imperfections, thereby mitigating safety hazards and reducing maintenance costs.

Hart County Judge Executive, Joe Choate, explained how the new equipment would be beneficial to the county at the court’s Tuesday morning meeting.

The equipment comes at a fairly substantial price, with the state bid coming to just over $45,000. While a steep price for any local body, the equipment will be an investment in the future of Hart County roads and transportation infrastructure.

The decision to procure the hot box comes after careful consideration of the county’s infrastructure requirements and available resources. With aging roads presenting ongoing challenges, the Fiscal Court deemed it imperative to invest in newer equipment.

Continuing with the theme of road work, Choate announced that KYTC District 4 Communications Director, Chris Jessie had reached out to announce the closure of the Hwy.88/31W intersection later next week, as Choate explains.

The court made quick work of the remainder of its agenda, which primarily consisted of reports, a brief closed session to discuss property acquisition, as well as the acceptance of several checks delivered to the council from the Hart County Sheriffs’ Office.

The meeting was promptly adjourned, with the next meeting scheduled for May 14th.
